A view of the tree planting and buffer zone on Glenshane. The fencing protects the young trees and keeps livestock back from the edge of the river. When the trees mature they will provide a corridor, giving shade and encouraging insect life. This section of the river has been identified in electro-fishing surveys as poor for spawning fish. It is hoped that these measures will encourage more spawning activity and the club will be looking at ways to improve holding pools and nursery areas.
